Refundable Fees

To receive a credit of refundable fees, UIC students must go to the University Bursar during the refund period. UIS students must go to the Springfield Records and Registration office during the refund period. Students must present a valid University ID card; all other forms of ID will not be accepted. All credits will be applied toward the UI-Pay account. Any credit balance created by the refundable fee credit will be refunded to the student via direct deposit. Please enroll into the Direct Deposit program if you have not done so already. Urbana-Champaign does not have any refundable fees. Please see below for the Chicago and Springfield refund deadlines.

Chicago

Student-to-Student Fee & Sustainability Fee:  The scheduled request period for Chicago is:

  • Fall 2020 term: August 24, 2020 - September 12, 2020
  • Spring 2021 term: January 11, 2021 - February 7, 2021

Please email bursarhelp@uillinois.edu to request a waiver form to receive a refund of these two fees. The waiver form must be completed and returned back to University Bursar via email between the dates of January 11, 2021 to February 7, 2021.  In the subject line, please enter "UIC Fee Waiver Request".

Springfield

Student-to-Student Grant Fee & Green Fee:  The scheduled request period for Springfield is:

  • Summer 2020 term: Completed by June 26, 2020
  • Fall 2020 term: August 24, 2020 - September 25, 2020
  • Spring 2021 term: January 19, 2021 - February 12, 2021

Students need to contact the Records and Registration Office at 217-206-6174 or registrar@uis.edu. If the student is an on-campus student, they must come in person to fill out the waiver form. If they are an online only student or Peoria campus only, they can email the Records and Registration Office with their name and UIN, and state they are an online (not on campus student) and request to have the spring term STS Grant and/or Green Fee waived. This waiver is a per semester request; they will need to contact the Records and Registration Office again each term by the stated deadline. Waiver forms must be completed between January 19, 2021 and February 12, 2021 for the Spring semester. 

Urbana-Champaign

Urbana-Champaign does not have any refundable fees. For a detailed description of all fees, please visit the Urbana-Champaign Office of the Registrar.
